Plants In The Deciduous

The Lady Fern grows in a circle. As it grows the leaves start fanning out and creating a circle around the stem. The Lady Ferns are common in some forests like the deciduous. The leaves of the Lady Fern are about 20 to 30 inches. Grizzly bears eat the berries that grow on the fern. The ladyfern grows in the semi shaded areas. People use these ferns to decorate their interiors. You can see these in their balconeys and inside their house. These ferns grow berries on them in some seasons. Lady ferns also grow in some local forests. Over all these plants are sort of common in the forest

The Northern Arrowwood has a green oval deciduous leaves which grow opposite each other on the stem. The points of the leaves are pointy and the bottoms are round and hearthshaped. The leaves are about 4 inches long and 3 inches across. The Northern Arrowwood is different from other plants because its leaves have large spiky edges, but its surface is smooth. The Northern Arrowwood is usually found in the decidouos biome. It grows from New Brunswick and southern Ontario, to south-east New York, northern Ohio and Michigan. The Northern Arrowwood grows along rivers, streams and lakes.

American Beech (Planet): Grows in Southern and Eastern parts of the United States. Also the American Beech grows in the deciduous forests all over Maine and Massachusetts. It grows in rich and moist soil. The American Beech is a tall and wide tree, The mature tree size is anywhere from 90 to 100 feet tall, and spreads 50 to 70 feet. The bark on the “American Beech” is very smooth, but a pale gray.  The leaves are bright green and are about three inches in length usually. The leaves have distinct, strong veins and toothed edges. The American Beech tree does not like city living, probably because of the carbon monoxide. The American Beech tree has a shallow root system and likes bottomland, and upland soil. There are many different uses for the American Beech tree. This is a list of some of the things this tree is used for: furniture such as cabinets, benches, stools and tables. The American Beech tree produces a lot of paper. The animals that feed on the nuts that grow on this tree are: the opossum, black bears, white-tailed deer, rabbits, ruffed grouse, red and gray squirrels, flying foxes, porcupines and others. The American Beech tree helps people because the nuts that fall off the tree can be harvested and sold for food. The american Beech's population is healthy throughout its range.

Guelder Rose

The Guelder Rose is a bush that grows in the deciduous. The rose is a member of the honey-suckle family. This bush is also like the Common Elder. The Guelder Rose's flower is super white and has  which are 3 to 5 inches across. The flower is wheel shaped and the outer flowers have five petals and are sterile. The inner flowers are fertile and very small. They provide nectar for the insects that pollinate them. The flowers turn into red berries. The Guelder Rose is beautiful in August when the berries are ripe, and the leaves turn to a bright red or rich purple before falling. It has maple-like leaves. This shrub can grow to 5 to 10 feet high. The berries are bright red and attract birds that spread the seeds. The very large white outer layer of flowers also attracts pollinating insects to the inner part of the flower. Some can self-pollinate. Some species are sterile and don't have berries. It is an invasive shrub and will take over another plant's area and is able to spread out for more sunlight. The Guelder rose is used as food for bears in the wild.

Shagbark Hickory

The tree's trunk has a ashy color and is very strong. The Shagbark Hickory can grow up to 100 feet tall! Shagbark Hickory's grow among some oak trees. They grow in wet or semi wet places. This tree is also very straight. Surpisingly this tree has flowers that grow on it that are both male and female! Its said that the male flowers grow in a small group called catkins. And the female flower grow in another small group called petallets. The leaves that grow on the tree are smooth and have small hairs on them. Some of the Shagbark's twigs have small brown buds. These brown buds are nuts. These nuts have very thick husks but the shell in side them is very sweet and edible. People cut down this tree to make sports equipment, furniture, or fire wood. The Shagbark tree is super common in the wild especially in the Eastern forests of the United States.

 Magnolia

There are many types of Magnolia that are diffrent in shape, size and color, the estimated amount is 210! Magnolia Trees come from Southeast asis and North America. But these trees have been moved to diffrent areas in the world, becuase of their beuaty. Magnolia's usally grow on soils that are acidic with rich nutrients. But moslty in places that aare in direct sunlight and a good amount of moisture. These are usally planted in parks and golf courses as a decoration because they are so beautiful, and because they provide a good amount of shade for people. Sadly Magnolia trees are dying out due to deforestation. Deforestation is when people come and cut down trees. This causes animals and plants to suffer because their habitat is being cut down. The Magnolia Tree can grow up to 80 feet tall. The flowers on the tree have a very nice scent which gives off the tropical food scent. The flowers on a Magnolia tree bloom from April to June. A fun fact is that Magnolia Trees appered on earth before bee's. And becuase they came before bee's they changed their flower to become more attractive to bee's. This makes the Magnolia Tree a very ancient plant. And this is probably because Magnolia Trees can live over 100 years!

Maple Tree

The are many many species of maples. The estimated amount is 128 types! Maples can mostly be found inthe northern hemisphere. The evidence of fossil prove that maples exsisted on the planet about 100 million years ago. But its said that the maples disappeared during the ice age. The tree is used for commercial application of the wood and its used to get maple syrup. Unfortunately 54 out of 128 species of the mape trees are facing the sadness of habitat loss. The habitat loss is caused my deforestation. Maple syrup is very rich in suger and contains many vitamins that humans need. The syrup is basiclly like sugar so people use it as a subsitute for sugar. Maple syrup is used in so many things such as pancakes, ice cream, and pie. Although that 54 maples are facing habitat destruction there are plenty more to spare. But in my opinion I still think deforestation is bad.
